As many of you probably know, I love to throw a party or make a party out of any type of situation; especially when it's a Holiday like Cinco De Mayo. So what better way to celebrate a Mexican fiesta at Betos eating breakfast burritos, horchata
and sporting that sexy mexican sombrero :)))
Growing up, in first grade my parents put me in Spanish Immersion (a class where you learn Spanish 1st-6th grade) and I fell in love with the language and culture. I honestly can say I knew how to write and know proper Spanish grammar before I even knew English. Back in Elementary and Junior High, at the end of every year, our class would take a roadtrip to an event called Espanolandia, where you would eat lots of Mexican food, play games, win some money, and break open some pinatas. It was basically a way of showing you the life of a Latino/a and pushing yourself through competitions of performing skits to better excel yourself in the language.
I ended up taking Spanish from first grade all the way to my Senior year of High School. So when Cinco De Mayo came around, I just had to celebrate. And what better way to celebrate then rocking a mustache and hanging out with your best friends drinking horchata.
Gracias to the Mexican people that came up with this brilliant Holiday that's a few days after my Birthday so I have an excuse to party all week long instead of studying for finals.
Adios!
