daddy's little girl

Tonight, I was able to be apart of something memorable. Something I will forever hold within my memory as well as my heart.
Tonight was the night I felt nothing but LOVE.

Sixth months prior I met someone. This someone quickly became apart of my life along with their family. A few months after meeting this incredible group of individuals, I received a devastating phone call saying that the Father/Husband of this family was diagnosed with stage four  Esophageal Cancer (cancer within the throat). In devastation, my heart broke for this family whom I quickly fell in love with and felt apart of; and as many of you well know, Cancer is not an easy process nor is it inexpensive. Because of this, I was able to be a part of a benefit concert that was held tonight honoring the father and husband of this beautiful and courageous family of seven.

To start off, their beautiful eleven year old daughter sang a song called "Butterflies" that left me in tears. Ten minutes into the program and I was already bawling my eyes out. After, a comedian slash impersonator by the name of Jason Hewlett performed a hilarious show that kept me laughing the entire time. I enjoyed it so much that I want to share it with you HERE.

By the time the comedian gave me my last laughs, I was thoroughly satisfied by what I had already seen and the night was only half way done. Then came the second act, an amazing pianist by the name of Jon Schmidt. If you play or are into piano, you really need to check this guy out. He is unreal. I have never felt more passion, love, sadness, and beauty from a piece of music. His arrangements are breathtaking and keep your jaw dropped in awe by his poise and talent.

I have heard a lot of Jon Schmidt's music coming from a household of piano players, but never have I ever heard a piece like this. He played an arrangement of two songs from Michael Jackson with a classical feeling. It is by far the best piano arrangement I have heard and I have to share it with you.
But anyways, I got too distracted talking about the performers tonight. They were literally amazing. There is a lot more to this Families story if you would like to read it HERE along with any donations that you would like to give. Every penny counts, for reals. This family truly deserves everything. They are always giving more than they are receiving. Take their father's yearly motto for example:

"Leave people better than you find them."

So please, for all our Father's sakes (along with Father's Day coming up), take advantage of the time spent with your Family, do not take life for granted and cherish every second of every day. There is so much trial and struggle out there but one thing I know is, a families love lasts forever and can overcome anything. So thank you to the Willis family who have shown me the power and strength of a families love. God bless.
