Hold near and dear the people that matter most;
that basically sums up my life lesson in a nutshell.
Whether it is family, close friends or significant others, grasp on to them as long as you can. Take advantage of every moment, opportunity and lesson you can gain out of them. Doesn't matter if it is a lesson of regret or a lesson of learning.
At least you have taken something out of it.
Every thing that happens to you happens for a reason. It happens for a purpose. It happens because you need it. Need it in order to realize something important. Something that you will take in account for the rest of your life, even if you may not see it now, you eventually will down the road. I had a "duh" moment just the other day of realizing how important family is and how much I need them in my life. You would think I should know this from a young age and it is common sense to know that your family should and will be there for you no matter what, but sometimes the simplest solution is the hardest to figure out. I don't know why but that is just how it is.
I am one who likes to do things, handle situations, problems and learn lessons on my own. I have been somewhat independent since I can remember. It has helped me figure out who I am but it also has gotten me into a lot of trouble. Take it from someone who has done it all their life: do not try and do things on your own. Use and abuse your family as much as you can. There is a reason why you are brought into their life and a reason why they are brought into yours. They are there for you even if you are or are not there for them. I have many regrets, but I do not regret those regrets. If there is one thing I could take out of my many mistakes, trials and errors, it is to keep your friends close but your families closer. Friends come and go throughout your lifetime but your family is there forever. No matter what situations come up, storms that come crashing in and people that try and tell you otherwise, hold your family near and dear. Accept them for who they are and give them as much unconditional
love and support as they need.
With that said, I want to first apologize to my own family for the many years I have not been there for them. The many years I was too selfish to see that they are more important than any friend. The many years I did not show the love and support they have shown to me and for that I thank every single one of my siblings and parents for all that they do for me. We have been through hell and back several times and have been through enough changes, I think. But it has made our family the way it is today and to be honest,
I would not change any of it.
So here's to families and the love, support and faith they give.
