true colors

All my life I had been looking for something, 

and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was.

 I accepted their answers. Listened to their advice and did what they told me to do. I have to admit that I was naïve.

Naïve to the fact that I was looking for myself through everyone else. 

Asking everyone but myself questions, which I, and only I can answer.

Today I realized: 

Sometimes, all your life you pretend to be someone else, 

and it turns out that you were someone else pretending to be you; 

and that is takes true courage to grow up and become who you truly are.
